I am sitting at home and browsing the web because it is cheaper than going out. I did a search on “Angry White Pyjamas” and found this website, which contains the following sentences:
Gozo Shioda was the founder of Yoshinkan and he was the student of O-Sensei or Morihei Ueshiba like other founders of aikido. Based on the teaching of the O-Sensei many students have opened their own schools of aikido.
Now, it’s true I’m a liiiiiiittle drunk right now, but, as a native English speaker, I think it is fair to say these sentences are quite funny. Let’s parse them a bit:
- “Gozo Shioda… was the student of O-Sensei or Morihei Ueshiba…” Yes, I’ve always been confused about that myself…
- “…other founders of aikido” were the students of O-sensei or of Ueshiba. Wow!!! I never knew that!! …err, how many founders were there…?
- “…many students have opened their own schools of aikido…” based on the fact that O-sensei taught you should open your own school of aikido? Wow! I never knew that! I guess I will be opening my own school soon…
I think this blogger has, for some reason, chosen to write in a language to which he is not native. More power to him… as long as I have whiskey at hand!!!
